Everything you need to know about TrickTack, feature by feature.

🖱️

Mouse Simulation

All plans

TrickTack moves your cursor in randomized, natural patterns across the screen. Movements vary in distance, speed, and direction — no repetitive loops that monitoring tools could flag.

  • Small movements simulate precise work like reading or editing
  • Large movements simulate switching between screen areas
  • Movement stays within your screen boundaries — never jumps off-screen
  • Speed and range are adjustable across 5 intensity levels
Tip: Start with Medium intensity. It matches the activity level most time trackers expect from a typical workday.
⌨️

Keyboard Activity

All plans

Simulates non-destructive keystrokes — modifier keys like Shift, Ctrl, and Escape that don't type visible characters or interfere with open applications.

  • Uses only safe keys that won't accidentally type in documents
  • Timing between keystrokes is randomized to appear natural
  • Frequency adjustable from Very Low (every ~3 seconds) to Very High (every ~150ms)
Tip: If you have Chrome open, the Pro plan's tab switching will also generate keyboard events by pressing Ctrl+1 through Ctrl+9.
📜

Scroll Simulation

Pro & Premium

Generates vertical and horizontal scroll events that mimic reading through documents, browsing web pages, or reviewing spreadsheets.

  • Scroll distance varies randomly — sometimes a few lines, sometimes half a page
  • Scrolls in both directions to simulate real browsing patterns
  • Occasionally right-clicks and dismisses the context menu for added realism
  • Frequency adjustable across 5 intensity levels
🔄

App & Tab Switching

Pro & Premium

Simulates multitasking behavior by switching between open windows using Alt+Tab and between Chrome tabs using Ctrl+number shortcuts.

  • App switching: Alt+Tab between 1–7 open windows, mimicking natural task switching
  • Tab switching: Ctrl+1 through Ctrl+9 in Chrome (Pro plan, when Chrome is the active window)
  • Occasionally includes right-click → dismiss and other micro-interactions
  • Randomized intervals prevent predictable patterns
Tip: Keep 3–5 work-related windows open (code editor, browser, email) for the most realistic activity pattern.
💤

Idle Detection

Premium only

Monitors your real mouse and keyboard input using low-level system hooks. When you stop using your computer, TrickTack automatically starts simulating activity. When you come back, it stops instantly.

  • Configurable idle timeout from 1 to 30 minutes (supports 0.5-minute increments)
  • Distinguishes between real input and simulated input — won't trigger itself
  • Stops immediately when you move the mouse or press a key
  • Fully hands-free — no need to manually start or stop
Tip: Set the idle timeout to 1–2 minutes for the most seamless experience. Your status will stay active within seconds of stepping away.
📅

Scheduling

Premium only

Set a daily schedule so TrickTack starts and stops automatically at specific times. Choose which days of the week to activate, and optionally configure break intervals.

  • Daily start/stop: e.g., start at 9:00 AM, stop at 5:00 PM
  • Day selection: Monday through Sunday — pick any combination
  • Break intervals: Run for X minutes, pause for Y minutes, repeat. Simulates natural work/break cycles
Tip: Use break intervals (e.g., 50 min on, 10 min off) to create a natural-looking activity pattern that matches how real people work.
⏱️

Auto-Stop Timer

Premium only

Set a timer to automatically stop all activity after a specified number of minutes. Useful when you want TrickTack to run for a fixed period without needing to remember to stop it.

  • Configurable from 5 to 480 minutes (8 hours)
  • Works alongside scheduling — the timer starts when activity begins
  • Sends a tray notification when the timer expires
📦

No Installation Required

All plans

TrickTack is a single portable .exe file — under 1 MB. Download it, double-click, and it runs. No installer, no setup wizard, no admin rights required.

  • No registry modifications
  • No files written outside its own directory (settings saved in AppData)
  • Can run from a USB drive or any folder
  • Easy to move between computers
Tip: Store TrickTack.exe in a folder you'll remember. Enable "Start with Windows" in Settings → General to have it launch automatically.
🔒

System Tray Operation

All plans

TrickTack runs entirely in the system tray — the small icon area near the clock. There are no visible windows, no taskbar buttons, and no splash screens.

  • Right-click the tray icon to access all controls
  • Double-click the tray icon to open Settings
  • Optional balloon notifications when activity starts/stops
  • Tray icon shows your current subscription tier

Lightweight Performance

All plans

TrickTack is built in native C# with near-zero CPU usage and minimal memory footprint. It won't slow down your computer or interfere with other applications.

  • Under 1 MB total file size (all dependencies bundled)
  • Typically uses less than 0.1% CPU
  • Around 15–20 MB of RAM
  • No background services, no auto-updater processes
🎛️

5-Level Intensity

All plans

Every simulation type (mouse, keyboard, scroll, movement range) has 5 intensity levels — from Very Low to Very High. Medium is the default and matches typical workday activity.

  • Very Low: 70% less frequent than Medium — barely noticeable activity
  • Low: 20% less frequent — relaxed pace
  • Medium: Default — matches typical work patterns
  • High: 20% more frequent — busy workday simulation
  • Very High: 70% more frequent — high-intensity activity
Tip: Different monitoring tools have different activity thresholds. If your tracker still shows idle periods, bump up one level. If it looks unnaturally active, lower it.
🔑

Hotkey Controls

All plans

Control TrickTack instantly from anywhere using global keyboard shortcuts. These work even when TrickTack isn't the active window.

  • ALT+A — Start all enabled features
  • ALT+M — Toggle mouse simulation only
  • ALT+K — Toggle keyboard simulation only
  • ALT+S — Toggle scroll simulation only
  • ALT+X — Stop all activity
